With its beautiful scenery and a huge variety of fishing holes, it's easy to see why people keep coming back time and time again to experience some of the best fishing in the region. But, with so many possible fishing spots to choose from, how do you know where to spend your time? We can help. 1. Alexandria Bay, Noosa National Park

Alexandria Bay is one of those fishing spots that are a little harder to get to meaning it isn’t as densely fished as other spots. The hour-long walk to the rarely fished spot is well worth it, however, as anglers can expect to encounter everything from Flathead and Whiting to Bream, Tailor and Dart.

2. Boiling Pot, Noosa National Park

Boiling Pot is a fantastic fishing spot in Noosa National Park. Just a quick 5 minute walk from the car park at Noosa Heads, you can find the spot by it’s unique features. Look out for a heart-shaped hollow where the water is frothing like a boiling pot. Here you’ll be able to try your hand catching Trevally, Big tailor, Bream as well as a huge range of other reef fish that are likely to be in the are.

3. Dolphin Point, Noosa National Park

Paradise Caves is a great spot for a day of family fishing as it is easily accessed and has plenty of good rock platforms to fish off if you want access to some deeper water without heading out onto the open ocean. Dawn and dusk are the best times to fish from Paradise Caves as the Mulloway and Tailor are there in numbers. Anglers can also expect to see some Bream, Dart and Flathead floating around as well.

4. Little Cove, Granite Bay and Tea Tree Bay

The bays and headlands of Noosa National Park are a treasure chest when it comes to fishing spots that aren’t fished very often. It does take a bit of a walk to get to the headlands and bays, however, it’s worth it for the abundant fishing you’ll find. If you’re willing to make the effort, you’re likely to find Dart, Bream, Flathead and Whiting.

5. Paradise Caves/Sunshine Beach Headland

Paradise Caves is a great spot for a day of family fishing as it is easily accessed and has plenty of good rock platforms to fish off if you want access to some deeper water without heading out onto the open ocean. Dawn and dusk are the best times to fish from Paradise Caves as the Mulloway and Tailor are there in numbers. Anglers can also expect to see some Bream, Dart and Flathead floating around as well.

6. Sunshine Beach

The 14km stretch from Sunshine Beach to Coolum offers some particularly abundant beach fishing. Spend some time traversing the creek runoffs and you might be lucky enough to get your hands on some Tailor and Mulloway, especially during dawn or dusk. Along the beach itself, you can find Dart, Flathead and Whiting.

7. Teewah Beach

If you've got a 4WD, Teewah Beach is a fantastic spot that offers anglers approximately 50km of beach to throw a line from. You can drive along the beach looking for deep gutters to fish from or head to your favourite spot and get comfy for the day. Teewah Beach offers Tailor, Jewfish, Mackerel, Tuna and Golden Trevally to name just a few species.

8. Double Island Point

For the fisherman who wants to turn their fishing trip into a bit of an adventure, Double Island Point is the perfect spot. Located between Inskip Point and the Noosa River mouth, this is a great fishing spot to spend a day at. Accessible only via 4WD, Double Island Point is a fantastic spot where baitfish tend to gather. You’ll find a huge variety of fish at Double Island Point, including Golden Trevally, Mackerel and Longtail tuna. The Headland is especially favoured for its winter fishing with Jewfish being a popular catch.
