Best baits to use for a Snapper fishing:

They have such a wide range to their diet. So they will take a wide range of baits and combinations of baits. But most common baits are Pillies, tuna, yakka's, pike, mullet, slimmies, gar, whiting, squid, octopus, prawns and small Crustaceans.

How do you catch snapper easily?

Besides live bait, you can try your luck with some shiny metal lures. Vertical jigs can emulate a tempting, easy bite to red snappers. This will require a bit of finessing, but vertical jigs will work in a pinch. Generally, vertical jigs work best in shallow depths of up to 30 feet to catch the most amount of light.

The snapper season locally starts around October and finishes after March. The big reds migrate inshore during this time of year because water temperatures have increased providing ideal spawning conditions. Dawn and dusk are generally considered the best times to be on the water.
