Weather Sunshine Coast Floods February 2022

A man is sitting on a boat holding two fish.

What a week Deep sea fishing co. Sunshine Coast has had flooding all week which means negative no offshore fishing this week positive we will be back in the water from tomorrow.

Great news is rainy weather can be very good for offshore fishing. The current and cloudy water during a rainstorm makes it safer and more comfortable for fish to hold and feed.  After recent heavy rains in the local system in south east Queensland - sunshine coast - Noosa, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and Caloundra so let's come up with an offshore fishing plan due to following the influx of fresh and the dirtier water. Different systems will be impacted differently, based on size, catchment areas, depth, tide heights and other variables but here are some tips from Deep sea fishing co. sunshine coast to put more fish on the boat fishing offshore following heavy rain.

Find some clean water

Don't laugh at this one, even after heavy rain there may be sections of the offshore conditions that have cleaner water, also keep in mind the cleaner water may become available at different stages of the tide. For example areas that are out of the flow of incoming fresh and the incoming tide may bring it a push of cleaner water.

Colour changes

Colour changes have been a favourite for anglers as fish will hunt along the colour changes, using them as a ambush point to attach unsuspecting bait. Colour changes also indicate depth change, current line, or other change in the water or environment that can concentrate and funnel food to both bait and in turn predatory species.

River mouths

The mouth of the river systems can often be extremely productive after rain, this can create a rich environment for bait and larger predators. Each incoming tide can also bring a influx of clean water and bait to recharge these river mouths and fire up the bait.

Water depth

One technique that has proven a winner after an influx of fresh into the system is to target deeper sections of the system.

Weed

Weed can also be a saviour when the system is full of fresh

So there you go fisherman lets get excited about the upcoming forecast this week for offshore fishing conditions and get out there finally.....it's been a long few days.
